凯恩斯主义建议在市场难以短时间内对系统进行调节时引入外部干预，从而增加流动性。但是符合（旧）凯恩斯主义的用例只包括一般的大萧条情形，也即工人失业，无事可做，同时无钱可花，并不包括滞涨的情形。而后者也正是新凯恩斯主义诞生的原因。

抛开本意，从政策制定的角度上来看，任何合理的政策都应该保证短期的可执行性。这方面可以再向grand narrative (or metanarrative)上靠近，并进行更多的阐释。

即便是遵循凯恩斯主义，也要明白，短期的经济刺激必然要付出长期的代价，或者说是未来的代价。因此寄希望于通过反复刺激发展经济是不切实际的，除非能找到转移矛盾或承担代价的群体，而在很多时候这是极为困难的。

饮鸩止渴为必不可，但将毒酒作为生活用水，而且无法找到解毒药，未免显得有些愚蠢——向未来借的债，总有一天是要还的。
